Kat is a 2016-17 JSK Fellow at Stanford University, looking at how to get more women into newsroom leadership positions. She was previously Deputy Business Editor for the San Jose Mercury News and Bay Area News Group, directing coverage of business and technology in Silicon Valley and the region. She previously worked as East Bay Metro Editor. She also worked for the San Luis Obispo Tribune, Bay City News Service, the Economist Intelligence Unit and other publications in Honduras and Europe. She taught journalism courses for several years at Cal State East Bay and is a past president and development director for Journalism and Women Symposium, a national group that provides training, networking and mentoring for women in journalism. Travel is a passion -- especially with her kids Graeme (21) and Chloe (18).
