This CAMP session is for teaching journalists how to dig into under-reported stories about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities. The intention is to move beyond terminology primers and dive into the big issues facing people in their everyday lives. The panel's focus will be on identifying issues journalists can explore in their local markets, sharing tips for finding LGBTQ+ sources and data, and discussing what hurdles reporters are likely to face in the process. A take-home sheet with the latest changes to LGBTQ+ style writing and a list of research resources will also be handed out to participants.
